Medicine

  • 265 Camden High Street London, England, NW1 7BU United Kingdom (map)

Medicine is an absurdist comedy that reflects on how we treat those we call “mentally ill”.

It follows the two Mary’s as they help John Kane deal with his memories and past trauma through the medium of Drama Therapy. When John turns up to the local community Hall it is still tattered with the remains of a party from the night before, but, they push through and recreate the story of John’s life as written in his own words. The 2 Mary’s debate the morality of their job with Mary 2 warning they should be careful what they say as they don’t know who’s watching. The 2 Mary’s take different approaches towards helping John, both fighting for their way to help him and it ends with John breaking down at the hand of Mary 2. She plays him tape recordings of himself having the same interview over many years, leaving us questioning what parts were real and what was in his head?
